Moonlight In Vermont

When my mom celebrated her 60th birthday in August 2010, Jonathan and I told her that as her gift we wanted to take her on a trip to a location of her choice.  She thought about it, and decided that she wanted to go to Vermont in the Fall.  We excitedly agreed and planned to head out in Fall of 2011 so we could have a little more time to plan it out.

The next Fall, my brother Jake married his lovely wife Stephanie, and our trip was put on hold as we celebrated the happy couple.  We agreed that we would go ahead and travel to Vermont in Fall of 2012.  However, it turned out that I was due to have Laurel in June and my brother and Stephanie had a little one on the way due in July.  A Fall trip seemed like it would be tough, but we were still on board.  Then mom learned she would need to undergo two major back surgeries in August, and we once again postponed our travels.

FINALLY, Fall of 2013 brought the joys of travel to Vermont, and the trip was everything we had hoped for and more!  We flew into Connecticut, explored many small towns through Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and ended up in Vermont where we took in all the quaint beauty that state could offer.

Our journey included stops at the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory and Ben & Jerry's (when in Rome...), stays at some really great Inns and Hotels, and delicious apples, syrup and cider.  We ran through parks, played in the leaves, drove and walked over some covered bridges, and enjoyed the people and the sites.  We even stopped for some ducks crossing the street and watched some wild turkeys make a run for it off the highway.

We took more pictures than I care to discuss, so in the interest of time, I have attached only a few of the shots that really captured the fun and beauty this trip had to offer.
